RFID: Big Brother’s Movin’ In!
Do you remember the day when you feared that you were being watched? Well now you can know that you’re being watched. If not watched, at the very least you are being tracked.
Most people have heard of the technology called RFID, or Radio Frequency Identification. It is a tagging system designed to track whatever it is attached to and boy oh boy are they ever creative about how and what to attach RFID to. From shirts and shoes to drills and hammers, tiny little tracking chips are being implanted into nearly every material thing we purchase in nearly every store we shop at.
Originally created for the purpose of tracking the flow of goods off the shelf, RFID can now be used to track the consumer consumption of said goods. I remember watching a movie that was set in the future about 50 years from now. As the main character walked through a store, computer voices would call this man by name and remind him of a previous purchase he had made simiply by reading the retina of his eye. Computers may not be able to read your retinas yet but they can definitely read the chip that’s embeded into your clothing or your eyeglasses or your wallet.
My Wallet? Yes. Some states are embedding them into your drivers licenses on a voluntary basis, for now. I say “for now” because eventually this will be a mandatory practice. It is coming, you can be sure of that.
That leads me to some legislation that the Democrats want to push through in Washington. The PASS Act is simply a tool in which the government will be able to implement the above meens as well as new ones.
Below are a couple of links to two recent programs on the subjects of RFID and the PASS Act.
The first link will take you to an Understanding The Times program, hosted by Jan Markel. She had on her program Katherine Albrecht, who wrote a book about RFID. Very enlightening to say the least.
The other link will take you to a Worldview Times program, hosted by Brannon Howse. He had on his program Tom Deweese, of the American Policy Center. He had a lot of good information about the PASS Act.

While you’re at it, you might as well read this article from MyWay News about a man who bought a device on E-bay that allows him to hack into anyones information by reading their RFID info.
